The Swan Valley Stampeders (1-2) were at home Saturday night against the Yorkton Terriers (0-2) in pre-season action.
The Stampeders found themselves trailing 12:31 into the first period as Ryan Ries beat Treyton Blank. Terriers added to their lead at 19:53 as Cole Keenleyside tipped one past the Stampeders net-minder. After twenty minutes of play the Stamps trailed the Terriers 2-0.
Jaimie Valentino cut into Yorkton’s lead at 2:21 and Noah Basarab tied the game at 7:38. Yorkton’s Keegan Sperling regained the Terriers the lead at 9:27 on the power play. Swan River product Carter Cockburn tied things up at 13:10 and the second period ended with both clubs tied at three.
The Terriers capitalized on an early power play in the third as Quin Hobbs beat Keegan Watkins-McIntyre at 2:47. Morgan Venne drew the Stamps even at 13:20. Yorkton’s Chantz Petruic scored the go ahead goal just over three minutes later and the Terriers held on to beat the Stampeders 5-4. Final shots on goal were 35-34 for Yorkton.
The Next action for the Stampeders will be Tuesday September 11th against the OCN Blizzard. Puck drop is set for 7:00pm at the Gordan Lathlin Memorial Arena.
