Swan Valley Drops to 3-9-1 on the Season with a 4-3 loss to the Winnipeg Freeze Tuesday Afternoon

The Swan Valley Stampeders dropped to 3-9-1 on the season with a 4-3 loss to the Winnipeg Freeze Tuesday afternoon at the MJHL Showcase.

The Freeze didn’t shock the hockey world this afternoon as the Stampeders knew coming in, they needed a full team effort to win a much-needed game. The Freeze rattled off three straight goals stunning the Stampeders who couldn’t get anything going today.

The Stampeders just killed off a 5-on-3 but the momentum had already swung and Kylow Monkman beat Liam Vanderkooi at 12:14 of the first period, scoring his fourth of the season. Kyle Grysiuk scored a minute later and Jayden Ward collected his second of the season 16 seconds later, chasing Vanderkooi from the net. Alex Walick picked up his first of the game with 40 seconds left in the period, ripping one blocker side for his sixth of the year.

Owen Warnick added his fourth of the season 34 seconds into the middle frame, pulling the Stampeders to within one early on. Nicolas Cullen answered back 11 minutes later on the power play to regain their two goal lead.

Walicki added his second of the game at 7:28 but it wasn’t enough and the Winnipeg Freeze won their first game of the season Tuesday afternoon.
