Swan Valley Star and Times Game Day Report

The Swan Valley Stampeders will be looking to do something they haven’t been able to accomplish yet this year, win three straight games. The Stamps will travel down Highway 83 to do battle with the Virden Oil Capitals at Tundra Oil & Gas Place tonight at 7:30 pm.

The Stampeders parade to the penalty box needs to stop as it nearly upset the apple cart on home ice last night. On a positive note to that last statement, the penalty kill has been on fire lately but playing with fire will eventually burn you. In order for the Stampeders to grab their third straight victory, and close the gap to five points behind second place overall in the west division, they MUST stay out of the box and continue to generate offence when they are on the man advantage.

Goaltender Dylan Black will get the nod between the pipes this evening – deservingly so after the 19-year-old stood on his head for his club last night on home ice. Over the course of his last three starts, the Langley, BC native has stopped 100/108 shots he has faced and sits fourth overall in goalie standings with a 2.70 GAA and a .922 SVS%. Look to the youngster for another solid outing for his team tonight on the road.

Head Coach and General Manager Barry Wolff will be going with the same lineup as last night’s 4-3 win at the Centennial Arena. Not dressing tonight will be Lare Pahtayken, Jordan Gagnon, Dharan Cap, Dayvan Bull and Jayce Nikbakht.

Players to watch

SVS – Jamie Valentino (8G, 11A), Cody Barnes (10G, 4A), Adam Rajsigl (4G, 9A), and Noah Fladager (5G, 6A).
