Swan Valley Star and Times Game Day Report

The Swan Valley Stampeders return to the confines of the Centennial Arena tonight to face the Dauphin Kings to close out a home-and-home.

The Stampeder offence was completely silenced last night on the road as the Kings outplayed, and outshot Swan Valley in a 5-0 loss. The Stamps kept up with the Kings for much of the first period but slipped late in the second period allowing three goals in less than two and a half minutes and Dauphin cruised to a win on home ice.

Hats off to Dauphin’s goaltender Carson Cherepak who made 19 saves, or was it 21 or maybe 20 saves in the win last night. I only joke but when the game ended there was 21 shots on the board, then 19 was announced and this morning 20 saves had been solidified in the record books. Doesn’t matter, Cherepak stood his ground and gave the Stampeder offence nothing. Swan will need to get in his kitchen, so to speak, and make life hell if they plan to beat one of the top goaltenders in the league tonight, that and staying out of the penalty box.

Head Coach and General Manager Barry Wolff has put his lineup in a blender and hit the button about four times ahead of tonight’s contest. He will be going with 11 Forwards and seven Defenceman against the Kings. Out tonight are Darius Makse, Collin Jennings and Jamie Valentino. Making their way back into the lineup this evening are Adam Rajsigl, Adam Ward and Trey Sauder. Making his Stampeder debut will be newly acquired defenceman Cole Chauvette, he will be wearing #5. Kobe Grant will get the start in goal tonight and will be looking for a bounce back game on home ice.
