Swan Valley Star and Times Game Day Report

The Swan Valley Stampeders will kick off a two-game home-stand tonight at 7 pm against the Selkirk Steelers at the Centennial Arena. These next two games are the only home games the Stampeders will play before the Christmas break. Tickets are available online, at Patty’s Sports Excellence or at the door.

Fans are asked to bring a toy to donate to the Swan Valley CTC Toys 4 U Toy Drive. A table will be set up in the lobby for those donations as you enter. The Stampeders also have their annual non-perishable, toy, and gently used clothing drive on the go. Donations for that will also be accepted at the front door when you enter.

The Stampeders are coming off a tough 6-3 loss to the Winnipeg Freeze last Sunday in the city. Swan Valley was on a two-game winning streak before their latest loss at the hands of the league’s worst team.

The Stamps’ will focus on the task at hand and that is the Selkirk Steelers. Selkirk holds a record of 10-13-1-2, fourth overall in the East Division. Swan Valley enters tonight’s game with a record of 11-13-0-2, fourth overall in the West Division.

These two teams have already met this year and that was at the MJHL Showcase in Portage la Prairie three weeks ago. Brad Fortin, Quinn Mulder, Carter Cockburn and Jacob Paler-Chow all scored goals while Kobe Grant stopped 31/33 shots he faced for the win.

Head Coach and General Manager Barry Wolff has put his lineup in a blender and hit mix ahead of tonight’s contest. Wolff has recalled (04) goaltender Zach Meadows to backup Kobe Grant. Cole Chauvette will draw back into the lineup while Darius Makse, Lare Pahtayken and Collin Jennings will be scratched.
