Swan Valley Star and Times Game Day Report

The Swan Valley Stampeders will be looking for a bit of a different ending when they host the Winnipeg Blues tonight night at the Centennial Arena at 7 pm.

The two teams battled it out last night with the Blues sneaking out a 4-3 shootout win over the Stampeders. Swan Valley certainly came to play and it was a full 60 minute effort by the entire lineup.

Carter Cockburn, Captain and Swan River local, took over the game offensively collecting two goals and an assist to help his team push the game into overtime. Brad Fortin would also score for the Stampeders but it was Dawson Green who stole the show in the overtime period and the shootout stopping every shot he faced.

Kobe Grant came on in relief of Dylan Black, who had an outstanding first game back, after he broke a skate blade that forced him out of the game with just over a minute left in the overtime period. Black will be scratched tonight and Brock Moroz will backup Kobe Grant who gets the nod.

Head Coach and General Manager Barry Wolff will be dressing the same lineup as last night and deservingly so. Last night the Stampeder players stepped up and played one of their best games this season. Look for a continued effort on their part tonight as they look to grab two points from the Blues and pull within one point of the Neepawa Titans for fourth in the West.
