Swan Valley Star and Times Game Day Report

The Swan Valley Stampeders will be looking to split a weekend mini-series against the Neepawa Titans tonight at the Centennial Arena.

Last night’s lacklustre effort in the first period by the Stampeders was the backbreaker, losing 5-2 to the Titans. The Stampeders failed to stay out of the penalty box giving the Titans six power plays, two of which lead to goals against in the opening 7:53 of the first period.

To be honest, the Stampeders didn’t show up for the first 15 minutes and it cost the game. Credit to the Neepawa Titans who showed up on time and were backstopped by Emerik Demers who stopped 30/32 shots he face.

The Stampeders will look for a better start tonight as they need to keep ahead of the Oil Capitals and the Neepawa Titans in the West Division standings. It’s an all-out dog fight in the Standings and every point given up now hurts the Stampeders’ chances at a playoff spot come March.

Players to watch

SVS – Deepkaran Hans (2G, 1A) Carter Cockburn (11G, 22A), Nic Roussel (1G,1A) and Quinn Mulder (10G, 20A).

NEE– Cameron Trimble (10G, 6A), Austin Clyne (5G, 7A), Mitch Thiessen (10G, 16A), and Jaeger Lapointe (17G, 8A).
