Swan Valley Star and Times Game Day Report – Final Home Game of the Regular Season

The Swan Valley Stampeders look to snap out of their recent funk tonight at the Centennial Arena in their final home game of the regular season.

The OCN Blizzard are swirling into town on a hot streak while the Stampeders have been cooled off by the Blizzard, going 0-2 this week and giving up a tone of goals against.

Swan Valley enters tonight’s game in a must win situation as Neepawa is hot on their heels with two games in hand. Swan Valley sits fourth in the West Division and holds onto the final playoff position with 47 points and a record of 21-25-1-4.

Head Coach and General Manager Barry Wolff shuffled his lineup once again ahead of tonight’s contest.  Ethan Matchim (injured) and Quinn Mulder (suspension) return to the lineup while Emile Pichette, Cole Chauvette and Trey Sauder will be scratched. Myles Mason has been freed off defensive duties and will slot in beside Quinn Mulder and Callum Fortin, Carter Cockburn  will flank Justin Keck and Brad Fortin, Jacob Paler-Chow joins a line of Adam Ward and Darius Makse while Nicolas Roussel will play left wing to Cody Barnes and Deepkaran Hans.

SVS – DeepKaran Hans (2G, 12A), Collin Jennings (3G, 10A), Cody Barnes (12G, 11A) and Nicolas Roussel (3G,4A).

OCN – Dain Sardelli (29G, 23A), Riley Zimmerman (17G, 18A), Brock McDonald (12G, 23A) and Mike Hlady (13G, 18A).

The evening will start off with a special thank you to our graduating players, a cheque presentation by Pizza Place, and Paull’s Funeral Home & Crematorium three stars of the week awards. That will all be followed by a tribute to Ukraine with the singing of the Ukrainian National Anthem by Valley Residents and the Canadian National Anthem by Katie Smith. The first intermission will see the Minitonas Figure Skating Club perform for all in attendance.

Tonight’s game is FREE ADMISSION and Proof of vaccination is no longer required.

Masks are still mandatory and everyone must one at ALL times in the Arena. We hope to see you all at the Centennial Arena for our final home game of the regular season.
