Stampeders look to gain traction with three game week
It’s a week of opportunity for the Stampeders this week, as they face two of the teams behind them in the overall standings in the MJHL, facing the Northern Manitoba Blizzard and Winnipeg Monarchs this week.
Swan is coming off a huge 8-2 win over the Waywayseecappo Wolverines on Friday where they seen 7 different goal scorers in the game. Crosby Harrison led the way with two goals on the night, Wylie Smith and Noah Stott both scored their first goals as Stampeders, Jake Giacobbo got off the 31 game schnide for his first, while Trace Langan, Ben Groome, and Andrew Pidskalny scored to add onto the total.
With the Stampeders getting the hang of their new look of a team, they have a great opportunity to string something together against the Blizzard and Monarchs. The Stamps have beaten both the Blizzard and Monarchs in their last meetings and with things clicking together, the team looks to be ready for the challenge ahead.
The Stamps also got some more good news this week, as they welcomed back Aidan Stewart, who took some time off to heal a lingering injury to his back.
Not only that, this Wednesday marks the return of the Stampeders Kids Game against the Blizzard to start the week. Schools from all over Swan River will be in attendance to make the game a great atmosphere. Puck drop goes at 12 pm in the Centennial Arena.
After the kids game, the Stamps will head back on the road for three games, starting in Winnipeg on Saturday against the Monarchs. Though the below the Stampeders in the overall standings, do not underestimate the Monarchs for a second. They have some underrated fire-power and can make teams pay for leaning back.
The Blizzard are coming off a two point weekend after beating Neepawa 6-5 on Friday. They’re another team you cannot afford to take lightly.
