Swan Valley Star & Times – Weekly Roundup

Stamps continue busy schedule with three game set

After sweeping the week with three straight wins, and extending their win streak to four games, the Stampeders once again have their hands full with three more games this week.

In their last four games, the Stamps have outscored opponents 16-9, have a 4-0 record, a .928 team save percentage, and Ben Groome has been red hot after being awarded an MJHL Star of The Week with 5 goals, 2 assists, and 7 points in three games this past week and also has 9 points in his last four games.

Going into this week, the Stamps will be tested against the streaking Virden Oil Capitals, who have taken a strangle hold on the MGEU West Division. They sit with a 23-10-2-0 record and hold a three point lead on the Neepawa Titans, but four games in hand. They’ve won 5 in a row going into Tuesday night.

After that, the Stamps will welcome the Selkirk Steelers to town for two games. Those two games will end the season series against the Steelers. Selkirk is 2-3 in their last five, going into Friday night’s opening game and sit with an 18-19-2-0 record which has them nine points back of Winkler for the fourth and final playoff spot in the East Division.

Swan has struggled against Virden and Selkirk this season, but with their new looking group meshing together nicely, and with four wins under their belts, the confidence to compete for more points will definitely be manifested into this weeks’ string of games.

Tomorrow’s game goes at 7:30 pm, while both games in Swan will go at 7 pm.
