Stampeders set for major test
The Swan Valley Stampeders are once again back on the road this week, as they take on the Dauphin Kings, Portage Terriers, and Winkler Flyers this week.
To begin, Swan heads to Dauphin on Tuesday to take on the Kings for the fifth time this season. In the initial meeting between the two Parkland rivals, the Stamps doubled up the Kings by a 6-3 score, but have since dropped the last three to the Kings. Swan has two more games against the Kings, both on the road, and will need to continue their play as of late to gain points.
Next; The Stamps head to Portage on Friday to take on the Terriers. So far, the season series against the Terriers is 1-1, with the Stamps also winning the first meeting of the season by a 6-3 outing. They’re most recent meeting was a 2-1 OT loss to Portage in Swan. This should be a good one to open the weekend.
Finally, The Flyers and Stamps face each other one last time, with Winkler being able to win the first three meetings in the season series and will look for the sweep on Saturday, while the Stampeders want to play spoiler and try do their best to get some points.
Swan enters this week winners of six of their last seven games and have slingshotted themselves into a solid position, but they still chase the Wayway Wolverines by 12 points in the standings and must continue their play going into this week.
