Swan Valley Star & Times – Weekly Roundup

Stamps gear up for three-game week

After a huge four-point weekend, the Stamps are back in action for a three game week, starting tomorrow in Waywayseecappo against the Wolverines at 7:30 pm. Following it up with a two game home set against the Winkler Flyers on Friday, Oct. 24, and Saturday, Oct. 25 with both games starting at 7 pm.

The Wolverines have struggled in their last three games, as they’ve fallen to both the Winnipeg Blues, and twice to the defending MJHL champions, Northern Manitoba Blizzard. Don’t take them out of the question however, as they have three players in the top 10 in scoring in the MJHL, Ben Roulette and Sebastien Hicks both have 8 goals, 13 assists for 21 points and are tied for third, while Kurt Rookes has a goal, with 14 assists for 15 points, sitting in sixth.

The Flyers have been a very up and down team this season, recently knocking off the red hot Dauphin Kings by a 5-1 score just yesterday, however, they have lost three of their last four, with those losses coming to Selkirk and Virden. The Flyers have shown that they can score goals but have struggled to keep the puck out of their net, almost the same story as the Stampeders.

The Stampeders have won three in a row, defeating the Blues, Monarchs, and Portage Terriers in those three wins and have shown good signs of more structured and well positioned defence, as well as their offence being at full strength. In order to come out with the best possible outcome, the Stampeders need to keep up this trend of play in order to keep up with these two tough opponents.

Catch the game live on FloHockey tomorrow, the puck drops at 7:30 pm.
