Swan Valley Star & Times – Weekly Roundup

Stamps prepared for three game week

The Stampeders are fresh off of their huge 6-4 win over the Winnipeg Blues on Saturday and are set for a three game week which has them back on the road, as they face the Wolverines, Pistons, and Flyers.

As of late, the Wolverines have struggled, as they’ve lost their last three games to Niverville, Portage, and the Stamps. In that span, they’ve been outscored 9-5 but came razor close in Niverville, falling just 2-1 to the top team in the MJHL. Swan has been feeling confident about their game as of late, and will look to bring that into Wayway on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Pistons have won three straight, scoring a combined total of 19 goals and allowing 10. They haven’t lost a game since they were upset by the Titans back on Oct. 29, getting blanked 4-0. Since then they’ve been scoring at will, and came up big when Virden came to town recently in a 4-3 win. The Stampeders haven’t faced the Pistons since Oct. 10, a game where they lost 7-2. They’ll look to try and fix that on Friday.

For their last game of the week, the Stampeders will head to Winkler to face the Flyers. The Flyers have only played two games since they were in Swan two weeks ago, and they’ve fallen by close scores of 3-1 and 2-1. The Stamps will definitely be looking for some revenge on two games they believe they could have won against the Flyers.

The Stampeders currently sit fifth in the MGEU West Division, but the margin to being in that fourth spot is not far off, as the Titans and Wolverines sit just three points ahead of the Stamps in the standings, something that could change in the blink of an eye.
