The Stampeders Win Streak Snapped at Four Games, Lost 6-5 Friday Night

Swan River, MB. – The Winnipeg Freeze chilled the Swan Valley Stampeders Friday night, defeating the home squad 6-5, earning just their fourth win of the year.

 The Story

The Freeze jumped out to a 3-0 lead, scoring on their first three shots on goal. Naaman Hofer opened the scoring at 5:48, sending a shot on goal from the point that deflected off bodies and found its way in. Hayden Chaloner gave the Freeze a 2-0 lead, scoring on a breakaway just over four minutes later. Lochlan Stefanishyn collected his first of the game over two minutes later and the Freeze held a 3-0 lead after twenty minutes of play.

Adam Rajsigl finally broke through the outstanding goaltending by Keegan Gordon, scoring from he’s knees at 6:50 of the second period. The Freeze quickly responded as Davis Thompson scored his first of the season a minute later, giving Winnipeg a 4-1 lead heading into the locker room.

Justin Keck’s hard for-check paid off as Gordon played the puck off of him and into the net 1:48 into the third period. Lochlan Stefanishyn added his second of the game at 4:04 regaining a three goal lead.  Keck added his second of the game just 12 seconds later pulling the Stampeders back to within two. Winnipeg responded with a power play marker at 9:10, making it a 6-3 game. Jakob Jones scored at 12:16 and Landen Gulutzan deflected home his fifth of the season at 14:30, but it wasn’t enough as the Stampeders win streak was snapped at four games.
