Tommy Cardinal Signs Tryout Contract with Tulsa of the ECHL

The Swan Valley Stampeders are proud to announce Graduating Forward Tommy Cardinal has signed an East Coast Hockey League try out contract with the Tulsa Oilers.

The team is based in Tulsa, OK, USA and are the ECHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks of the NHL, and the San Diego Gulls of the American Hockey League.

Cardinal, from St-Etienne-de-Lauzon, QC, scored 22 goals and added 30 assists in 60 regular season games. The 20-year-old would go on to add two goals and two assists in three playoff games before the coronavirus put a stop to the MJHL playoffs.

“We are extremely proud of Tommy and his continued commitment to the game and getting to the next level,” said Head Coach and General Manager Barry Wolff.

“It is also a feather in the cap of the Manitoba Junior League, the Stampeder Program, and the Swan Valley community that provides these young men a great platform to enhance their game and get to the next level whether that is college or pro hockey.”

Cardinal, who looks to turn pro, did sign a contract in the SPHL with the Peoria Rivermen last Friday, July 31, 2020.

The Swan Valley Stampeder organization would like to congratulate Tommy Cardinal on his recent signing and wish him the very best in the future.
