Stampeders Fall 3-2 Tuesday Night, Now Trail Dauphin 2-0 In Their Best-of-Seven Series

The Swan Valley Stampeders fell behind 2-0 in their best-of-seven series, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Dauphin Kings at Credit Union Place Tuesday night.

Swan Valley’s offence was led by Cody Barnes and Collin Jennings who each collected a goal while Kobe Grant suffered his second straight loss in net.

The Stampeders opened the scoring 5:17 into the contest on a point shot from Jennings that was deflected home by Barnes for his first of the post-season.

Jennings gave the Stampeders a 2-0 lead 2:32 into the middle frame, sending a slap-shot on net that beat a sprawled out Carson Cherepak for his first of the playoffs.  Luke Morris responded for the Kings just over four minutes later sending a soft shot on net that beat an unsuspecting Grant to pull the Kings to within one heading into the third period.

Parker Malchuk tied the game 8:24 into the third period and Owen Wareham scored the eventual game winner five minutes later and the Kings squeaked out a victory Tuesday night on home ice to take 2-0 series lead.
