Stampeders Fall 7-5 on the road Tuesday Afternoon, Now sit 3-6 on the Season

The Swan Valley Stampeders and the Waywayseecappo Wolverines duked it out this afternoon with Wayway taking this one 7-5.

Swan Valley’s offence was led by Josh Danis (1G, 2A), Landen Gulutzan (1G, 2A),  Alex Walicki (1G, 1A) and Ashton Fishley (1G, 1A) while Liam Vanderkooi stopped 40 of 47 shots he faced in the loss.

This afternoon’s game had plenty of scoring and was an entertaining game for the kids who showed up from school in bunches. Tip of the cap to the Wolverines Organization for putting together a great event for the kids.

The Wolverines jumped out to a very early lead today, scoring just 1:04 into the contest and really didn’t look back.

Lucas Perry added to the Wolverines lead at the 2:20 mark of the second and Garrett Zasitko scored a power play goal five minutes later giving the home squad a 3-0 lead. Josh Danis was able to poke home his third of the year just over a minute later. Thomas Kaufield collected his first of the game, scoring his first of the year three minutes later. Alex Walicki pulled the Stampeders back to within two at 18:13 and Landen Gulutzan made the game 4-3 14 seconds later. The Wolverines added one late in the period and lead 5-3 after 40 minutes of play.

The third period saw both teams add a pair of goals, resulting in a final score of 7-5 for the Wolverines.

The Stampeders now sit with a record of 3-6 to start the 2023 – 24 campaign and will look for a different result Friday night in Virden. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m..
