Stamps look to snap 4 game skid in Niverville
Stampeders: 6-6-2-0 (T3rd in West) Power Play % (29.4% 1st in MJHL) Penalty Kill % (76.1% 10th in MJHL)
Nighthawks: 10-2-2-0 (1st in East) Power Play % (20.4% 8th in MJHL) Penalty Kill % (87.9% 1st in MJHL)
Offence will be the main focus for the Stampeders as they look to snap a four game slide against the defending Turnbull & Centennial Cup champion, Niverville Nighthawks.
Finding that offensive touch
The Stamps have struggled with one thing in the last four games, and it happens to be the most important thing in hockey, and that is scoring.
The team continues to play good hockey. Dominant while 5 on 5, outshooting and outchancing opponents, physical, energized, but can’t seem to buy enough goals. It’s a narrative we have seen for the last couple weeks that must change tonight against a strong Nighthawks team.
Defensively, the Stamps will have to deal with the loss of Wylie Smith, who will sit out some time after being sidelined with an injury. Regardless, the team will welcome back Jack Ferras and Sam Grunewald to the lineup after their injuries. To add, the Stamps have been one of the best defensive teams in the league, with the second least goals against, behind only their opponent for tonight.
The opponent
As stated above, the Stamps will take on the best defensive team in the MJHL in the Niverville Nighthawks. Swan has struggled but always comes close while playing against the Nighthawks who have gotten better and better since they entered the league in 2022.
The Nighthawks might not be the same team they were last year, but they still are a very dangerous threat to any team they face. They continue to be one of the teams to beat this season.
Players to Watch:
Stampeders: Noah Stott, Crosby Harrison, Trace Langan
Nighthawks: Marlen Edwards, Ryken Arran, Owen Murray
