PAULL FUNERAL HOME 3 STARS OF THE WEEK!!

Swan Valley returned home after a three game road trip, where they took four of six points on the road. Mikael Foucher was the story this weekend as the youngster backstopped his club to a 3-2 shootout victory ‪Friday night‬ in Winkler, came on in relief of Michael Davis in a 5-4 loss to the Flyers Saturday, and finished the weekend with an outstanding performance in Portage in ‪Sunday night‬’s 6-2 win. (More on him below). The Stamps`rebounded this week posting a 2-1 record, proving to not only themselves, but the entire league exactly what they are capable of. The team improved their record to 14-7-2, which puts them in 5th place overall, four points behind the 1st place Steinbach Pistons. If you look at the standings, league parody continues to come to mind as just seven points separates 1st and 7th. The Stampeders continue to get scoring from all over their lineup, making this weeks 3 star selection another tough decision.

The Three Stars of the Week will be awarded week-to-week with points being collected throughout the season. The top three players will be presented an award before our final home game of the regular season.

Three stars point system is as follows:
1st Star = 5 points
2nd Star = 3 points
3rd Star = 1 point

THREE STARS (Nov 11 – Nov 18)

3rd Star
Josh Beauchemin takes this weeks 3rd star award. The 18-year-old from Ile des Chenes, MB picked up 2 goals and 2 assists last week on the road. The 5’9” 161 lbs speedster would find the back of the net against Winkler Friday, added a helper on Tommy Cardinal’s opening goal Saturday. He also scored a beauty of a goal and picked up an assist in Portage Sunday. In 17 games with the Stampeders, Beauchemin has scored 4 goals, added 6 assists for 10 points.

2nd Star
Tommy Cardinal continues to impress every time he steps on to the ice with his skill and physical play. The 5’10” 201 lbs power forward returns this week as the 2nd Star. The product of St-Étienne-de-Lauzon, QC scored the games first goal Saturday against the Winkler Flyers, added a goal and two assists against the Terriers Sunday at Stride Place in Portage. The 20-year-old has scored 7 goals, adding 13 assists for 20 points in 23 games with the Stampeders.

1st Star
For the first time ever, a goalie has made the 3 star selection. Mikaël Foucher turned many heads this weekend with his stellar play, making him this weeks 1st star. The native of St-Hubert, QC stopped 29/31 shots he faced Friday night in Winkler, also stopping all 3 shooters he faced in the shootout, posting a .935 SV%. The 19-year-old would come on in relief of Michael Davis Saturday against the Flyers stopping 19 of 21 shots he faced, posting a .905 SV%. The 5’11” 170 lbs goalie would take over the game Sunday in Portage backstopping his team to a dominating 6-2 win over the Terriers. The youngster put forth a stellar performance stopping 40/42 shots he face in 60 minutes posting a .952 SV%. Foucher stopped 88/94 shots he faced this past weekend, posting a .936 SV% over the course of 2 and a half games played. The Quebec native also sits 4th overall in the MJHL in both GAA (2.49) and SV% (.920).

Honourable mentions go out to Mattias Dal Monte (3A), John Jebamani & Nathan Carl collection (1G, 1A) each, Parker Johnson (2G), and Frazer Dodd (1G, 2A).

The Stamps’ will return to action Thursday November 21 when they travel to Waywayseecappo to face the Wolverines. The Stamps’ will return to home ice Saturday November 23 to face the Portage Terriers. That game is a presentation of the Co-op Swan Valley.
