Portage Forces Game 7 With 5-2 Win In Swan

A strong third period by the Portage Terriers sunk any hopes of Swan Valley hoisting the Turnbull Cup on home ice Thursday night in Swan River.

The Terriers scored four goals in the third period, beating the Stampeders 5-2 and forcing game 7.

The MJHL leading point getter Bradly Goethals kicked things off tonight ripping one home high blocker side on Nathan Moore 3:20 into the first, which sent the sold out crowd into a frenzy.

Scoring would resume late in the second period as Owen Murray tied the game, beating a sprawled out Merek Pipes with 12 seconds left in the middle frame.

Alex Uryga regained the Stamps’ lead, snapping home his sixth of the year 2:20 into the third. Portage tied the game just over 11 minutes later as Kolton Schindle would find a wide open Reece Henry wide open in the slot, burying his fifth of the playoffs. Chase Brakel would grab his seventh of the playoffs a minute forty later. Jay Buchholz would score two empty net goals and the Terriers would skate to a 5-2 win.

The Turnbull Cup Series will now shift to Portage for Game 7, Monday April 22nd.

Puck drop is 7:30pm. Tickets are available online through www.portageterriers.com
