Stampeders Win Second Straight Game, Beat Dauphin 3-0 Friday Night

The Swan Valley Stampeders skated to a win on home ice Friday night, defeating their rival, the Dauphin Kings, 3-0.

Swan Valley’s offence was led by Captain Tyler Park (1G, 1A), Jakob Jones (1G), Myles Mason (1G) while Kobe Grant stopped all 40 shots he faced for his first shutout of the season.

The Stampeders offence showed up in a big way throughout the first period, scoring three goals in a span of 19 minutes. Swan Valley completely dominated the first period and their relentless for-checking was on full display for the Swan Valley faithful. That pressure created an early power play that resulted in Jones opening the scoring 1:16 into the opening frame. Park scored his first ever MJHL goal on a beautiful pass from Griffin Ayotte just over seven minutes later. Mason chased down a loose puck and sent a shot on goal that handcuffed Cole Sheffield to give the home team a 3-0 lead heading into the dressing room.

After that it was a solid team effort shutting down every strike the Kings sent their way. That and their penalty killing was spot on.  Grant took over and stopped all 40 shots he faced to pick up his first shutout of the season and giving the Stampeders their first win on home ice.

Final shots on goal
Dauphin – 40
Swan Valley – 34

The two teams will have a short memory as they will finish off a home-and-home mini series tomorrow night in Dauphin at the Credit Union Centre. Puck drop is slated for 7:30 pm. Catch all the action live on hockeytv.com or stay up-to-date on all social media platforms.
