Stamps Down Wayway 7-0

The Swan Valley Stampeders made their way to Waywayseecappo Monday afternoon to meet with the Wolverines.

The opening frame had both clubs go back and forth without any scoring for the first 15:00 minutes. Josh Tripp opened the scoring at 15:46 with his 23rd of the year beating Isaac Labelle glove side. Trevor Mann extended the lead at the 17:00 minute mark as he picked up his 22nd of he season on the power play. After 20 minutes of play the Stampeders lead 2-0 and the shots 14-6 for Swan Valley.

The middle frame was a dominating performance by the Stampeders. Noah Basarab added to Swan’s lead as he picked up his 17th of they year at 6:21. Jaden Townsend tapped him his 12th of the year at 8:36 which ended Isaac Labelle’s afternoon in net. Keaton Jameson snapped home his 17th of the year as he beat Curtis Stewart glove side at 14:02. Ethan Peterson turned aside all 8 shots he faced in the 2nd and the Stamps held a 5-0 lead heading to the locker room. Shots were 39-14 in favour of the Stampeders after 40 minutes of play.

Noah Basarab added his 2nd of the game at 2:16 of the 3rd, shooting his 18th of the year into a wide open net. The Stampeders found themselves in penalty trouble in the 3rd but it never halted the offence. Shane Roulette scored his 18th of the year short handed on a 5 on 3 penalty kill. Stampeder Goaltender Ethan Peterson stopped all 23 shots for his 1st shutout of the year.

Daylin Smallchild’s 2 assist afternoon was given 3rd star, Ethan Peterson’s 23 save performance was awarded 2nd star, and Noah Basarab’s 2 goal effort was named 1st star.

Next action for the Stampeders will be in Steinbach Friday February 23rd. Puck drop is 7:30pm.
