Stamps lost to Steinbach.

The 11-11-3 Stampeders were looking to keep their winning streak alive tonight against the visiting Steinbach Pistons.

Before the puck drop tonight the Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Billet and Volunteer of the month awards were presented. Congrats to Darren and Crystal Ross on being billet families of the month and to Ray Atkinson who was presented volunteer of the month.

When the puck dropped The Stampeders found themselves trailing 1-0 just 2:32 into the opening frame as Mark Wilson picked up his 3rd of the year on the power play. Steinbach`s Hiedamann scored at 8:53 to add to their lead. Purtill added another at 16:48 and Schoonbaert scored at 18:22 to take a 4-0 lead into the intermission. Shots after 20 minutes of play were 13-8 for Steinbach.

The 2nd period saw newly acquired Ethan Peterson make his debut between the pipes. the Stamps took the play to the Pistons gaining a power play early on in the middle frame but couldn’t beat Mathew Thiessen. Ethan Peterson made several highlight real saves but again it was the Pistons Martin who scored on a 2 on 1 at 9:54. Tanner Mole shorthanded goal at 13:23 increased their lead to 6-0. The Stampeders answered back on the power play as Jaden Townsend picked up his 7th of the year at 14:17. The middle frame came to a close with Steinbach leading 6-1 and the shots were 25-15 in favour of the Pistons.

Both clubs continued to pressure one another but couldn’t solve either goaltender. The Steinbach Pistons went on to defeat the Stampeders 6-1. Final shots were 36-25 for Steinbach.

Th next action for the Stampeders is December 5th in Virden. Puck drop is at 7:30pm at Tundra Oil and Gas Place.
