Steinbach Beats Swan Valley 5-1

The Swan Valley Stampeders lose 5-1 to the Steinbach Pistons on home ice.

The 8th place Swan Valley Stampeders met with the 1st place Steinbach Pistons tonight at the Centennial Arena in Swan River. The Steinbach Pistons opened the scoring at 12:10 when Brady Tatro picked up his 17th of the season. Steinbach added to their lead at 14:15 as William Koop beat Brett Evans in tight. The 1st period came to a close with the Pistons leading 2-0 and the shots were 12-8 for Steinbach.

As the middle frame got underway the Swan Valley Stampeders were looking to get on the board but Mathew Thiessen had an answer for everything that came his way. Drew Worrad added to the Pistons lead at 9:11 scoring his 25th of the year. Riese Gaber scored at 19:15 and the Pistons lead 4-0 after 40 minutes of play. Shots were 27-15 for Steinbach.

The Stampeders got on the board midway through the 3rd as Jaden Townsend scored his 11th of the year on a scramble infront of Thiessen. Steinbach added another late in the 3rd and the Pistons went on to defeat the Stamps 5-1. Final shots were 42-33 for the Pistons.

Next action for the Stampeders will be Saturday February 17th when they host the Winkler Flyers. Puck drop is 7:30pm at the Centennial Arena.
