Swan Valley Star & Times – Weekly Roundup

Western showdowns

The Swan Valley Stampeders enter this week earning 5 of their last 6 points and looking for more as they take on the Dauphin Kings tomorrow at 7 pm inside the SRCA, meanwhile they’ll head to Neepawa on Saturday for a 7:30 pm matchup.

Last weekend;

The Stamps managed to gain 3 points this past weekend, falling to the Pistons in overtime on Saturday by a 4-3 score, but then bouncing back to beat the Winnipeg Monarchs by a 6-2 score. Swan should’ve had 4 points on the weekend, especially after a questionable ending to the game in Steinbach. Owen Lutgen, Dane Hancock, and Jake Giacobbo had goals in the loss.

On Sunday, the Stampeders came together and scored 6 goals to defeat the Winnipeg Monarchs. Hunter Toth led the way with two goals, while Ben Groome had his second straight 3-point night. Trace Langan, Sam Grunewald, and Wylie Smith all added goals as well.

This week;

The Stamps owe the Dauphin Kings one after they fell 3-2 in Swan a few weeks ago, while outshooting Dauphin by a 56-23 margin. Playing as a team and playing with a lead is two very important factors for the Stampeders to earn two points tomorrow. The game will go at 7 pm inside of the Centennial Arena.

Swan will then hit the road to Neepawa for the first time, a team that gave them trouble last year in the Titans. It’s the first of six games in their regular season series.
