Stamps face Wolverines to start weekend
Stampeders: 3-1-0-0 (T2nd in West) Power Play % (37.5% 2nd in MJHL) Penalty Kill (78.6% 8th in MJHL)
Wolverines: 3-1-1-0 (1st in West) Power Play % (26.3% 4th in MJHL) Penalty Kill (88.9% 3rd in MJHL)
The Swan Valley Stampeders kick off the weekend pair of home games against a bitter West Division rival in the form of the Waywayseecappo Wolverines, looking to get back in the win column after dropping their first loss of the season last Saturday to the Dauphin Kings.
The opponent:
Wayway comes into this game with the division lead, but by only 1 point. Last year, the Wolverines took 4 of 6 games in the season series and made it to the second round of the Turnbull Cup Playoffs, where they fell in five games to the eventual Centennial Cup Champion Niverville Nighthawks. This Wolverines team has tons of skill and some very solid goaltending to help themselves navigate to what is a very highly anticipated season in Wayway.
Deciding Factors
There were points in the game last Saturday that saw the Stampeders maybe get too comfortable and a little over confident. Despite outshooting Dauphin 56-23, the puck luck didn’t go their way, that has to change tonight against a Wayway team that is always quick on the forecheck, aggressive, and unpredictable. One thing is for certain, this should be another doozy of a West Division matchup to watch.
Players to Watch:
Stampeders: Dylan Ruff, Trace Langan, Ben Groome
Wolverines: Ian Buors, Cale Livingston, Treycen Wuttunee
