Stampeders looking for redemption while hosting Blues
Stampeders: 3-2-0-0 (3rd in West) Power Play % (35.7% 2nd in MJHL) Penalty Kill % (82.4% 6th in MJHL)
Blues: 2-2-0-0 (6th in East) Power Play % (12.5% 11th in MJHL) Penalty Kill % (62.5% 13th in MJHL)
After last night’s third period collapse, the Stampeders have a chance to get back into the win column tonight, as the Winnipeg Blues come to town. These two teams faced off 4 times last year and split their season series 2-2.
The opponent:
The Blues started the season well with back to back wins over the Monarchs, and Selkirk Steelers but have lost their last two games to the Nighthawks and Kings. They are a very unpredictable team that can definitely burn opposition with their quiet skill at forward. However, the Stampeders are hungry to get back in the win column.
Last night:
Once again, the Stampeders let a 3-0 lead in the final 7 minutes of the third get too comfortable against a Wayway team that is set to be a juggernaut in this league. One thing you cannot do is get too overconfident and stop playing, and that is basically what the Stamps did last night. These games require a full 60 minute effort, top to bottom. Tonight is basically the Stamps first must win of the season.
Players to Watch:
Stampeders: Sam Grunewald, Dayson Martin, Wylie Smith
Blues: Jaxin Karst, Aidan Fisher, Tristen Bailey
