PAULL FUNERAL HOME 3 STARS OF THE WEEK!!

The Swan Valley Stampeders are coming off a 0-2 weekend against the Winkler Flyers. The team fell Friday October 18th losing in overtime 3-2, and lost again 6-3 Saturday October 19th on home ice.

Swan Valley was coming off a 12 day break due to a massive storm in the province. The storm caused three road games to be postponed.

The Stampeders now sit with a record of 7-2-1 in their first ten games of the 2019-20 season. Despite the two losses to the Winkler Flyers, the team still sits in the MJHL top five with three road games scheduled for this week.

The “Three Stars of the Week” returns this year thanks to Paull Funeral Home & Crematorium.

The Three Stars of the Week will be awarded week-to-week with points being collected throughout the season. The top three players will be presenter an awarded before our final home game of the regular season.

Three stars point system is as follows:

1st Star = 5 points

2nd Star = 3 points

3rd Star = 1 point

THREE STARS (Oct 14– Oct 21)

3rd Star

Jackson Betcher had a great weekend. The 18-year-old from Swan River, MB collected his first goal as a Stampeder Saturday night against the Winkler Flyers. The 6’1” 190 lbs defenceman has played in 49 games over the course of a season and a half with the big club.

2nd Star

Josh Maucieri continues to quietly put up points this season, picking up two more assists this past weekend against the Winkler Flyers. In the first ten games of the year, the 20-year-old forward has collected two goals and added ten assists.

1st Star

Luke Beerman takes home this weeks first star honours. The native of Marquette,MI, USA picked up a goal and an assist in back-to-back games against Winkler. The 18-year-old is a hard nose forward, who plays both ends of the ice. The 6’1” 176 lbs forward has scored five goals and added four assists in ten games played with the Stampeders.

Honourable mentions this week go out to Carter Cockburn (1G), Tommy Cardinal (2A), & Nathan Carl (1G 2A).

The Stampeders record now sits at 7-2-1 through the first ten games of the 2019-20 season. The club sits in fourth place overall with three road games this week. The Stamps’ will travel to OCN Wednesday October 23rd, Virden Saturday October 26th, and Waywayseecappo Sunday October 27th.
