PAULL FUNERAL HOME 3 STARS OF THE WEEK!!

The Stampeders are coming off a tough loss on home ice over the weekend, dropping a 4-3 decision to the Portage Terriers. A couple of nights before that, Swan defeated the Waywayseecappo Wolverines 4-1 on the road.

Swan went 1-1 last week scoring 7 goals while giving up 5, 4 of which were against Portage. The clubs power play went 3/9, while their penalty kill was 2/11 against Wayway and Portage.

League parody, it has been talked about on numerous occasions, and this week was a perfect example of it. Swan’s win Thursday night allowed them to move ahead of Wayway for forth overall. Saturday’s loss to Portage, moved them back down to fifth in the MJHL. The Stampeders have bounced up and down the standings over the past three weeks posting a record of 7-4 so far in November. The teams record now sits at 15-8-2, which keeps them in 5th place overall.

The Three Stars of the Week is awarded week-to-week with points being collected throughout the season. The top three players will be presented an award before our final home game of the regular season.

Three stars point system is as follows:
1st Star = 5 points
2nd Star = 3 points
3rd Star = 1 point

THREE STARS (Nov 18 – Nov 25)

3rd Star
Luke Beerman takes this weeks 3rd star honours. The 18-year-old from Marquette, MI, USA picked up a goal and an assist last week against the Waywayseecappo Wolverines. The 6’1” 176 lbs forward scored the games first goal Thursday November 23, and would add an assist on Trevor Schroeder’s power play goal, which ended up being the game winner. I’m 25 games, the Michigan native has scored 9 goals and adding 11 assists.

2nd Star
Mattias Dal Monte takes this weeks 2nd star award. The youngster from Nanaimo, BC has turned heads all season long. The 6’3” 185 lbs defenceman is being compared to Quinton Sudom for his offensively gifted talents. The 19-year-old picked up three more assists during two games last week against Wayway and Portage. Dal Monte leads all Stampeders with 26 points (8 goals, 18 assists) and is over a point per game player.

1st Star
Carter Cockburn is this weeks 1st star. The 18-year-old from Swan River, MB is in his second year with the Stamps’ and has quietly put up 13 points. The 5’11” 161 lbs forward scored a pair of goals Saturday night in a 4-3 loss to the Portage Terries. In 24 games, the Swan River, MB product has scored 7 goals, adding 6 assists.

Honourable mentions go out to Tommy Cardinal (1G, 1A), Trevor Schroder (1G, 1A), Josh Maucieri (2A), and Josh Beauchemin (1G).

Swan has three games this upcoming week, two of them in Neepawa (Wednesday November 27 & Friday November 29), and will host the Portage Terriers Saturday November 30th. Saturday’s game is 80’s music night and jersey night at the Centennial Arena. Anyone who wears a jersey to the game will be entered to win a Stampeder jersey of their own.
