Paull Funeral Home & Crematorium Three Stars of the Week (Feb. 26 – Mar. 5)

It’s time for another Three Stars of the Week, which is brought to you by Paull Funeral Home and Crematorium. Every Monday we will be awarding three players who had a big week and giving them stars. We will be doing this week-to-week with points being collected throughout the season. The top three will players will be recognized and presented an award during our final home game of the regular season. 

First off, the three stars of the week will close down in one week in order to hand out the top three awards on March 17. Secondly, we are it to the double points portion of the season. 

The Swan Valley Stampeders went 3/3 last week, outscoring their opponents 16-4 during those three games. 

The Stampeders started the week off right, defeating the Dauphin Kings in their first-ever Student Game at the Centennial Arena. Noah Wilson, Collin Jennings, Jakob Jones and Darius Makse scored to help the Stampeders inch closer to first place in the MGEU West Division Wednesday afternoon. 

The Stampeders followed that up by scoring eight straight goals against the Winnipeg Freeze Friday night on the road. Adam Rajsigl, Trey Sauder, Warren Marcotte, Josh Danis, Myles Mason, Justin Keck, Jakob Jones and Griffin Ayotte all scored, while Kobe Grant picked up his 22nd win of the season stopping 32/33 shots he faced to help his team gain first overall in the West. 

Swan followed that up with an unreal performance against the Selkirk Steelers Saturday night. Trey Sauder, Alex Walicki, Noah Wilson and Landen Gulutzan all picked up a goal while Grant stood on his head, collecting his third shutout of the season and 23rd win of the year. 

The “Three Stars of the Week” is brought to you by Paull Funeral Home & Crematorium, and will be awarded week-to-week with points being collected throughout the season. The top three will players will be recognized at the end of the season. 

Three stars point system is as follows: 

1st Star = 6 points 

2nd Star = 4 points 

3rd Star = 2 points

THREE STARS (Feb. 26 – Mar. 5) 

 3rd Star 

Jakob Jones slips two spots this week but it wasn’t for a lack of points. The 19-year-old from Vernon, BC collected a goal against the Dauphin Kings, added a goal and an assist against the Winnipeg Freeze and closed out the week with an assist in Selkirk. Jones sits fourth overall in the MJHL with 65 points (29G, 36A).  

 2nd Star 

Justin Keck powered his way onto the three stars of the week, collecting six points in three games last week. The 20-year-old speedster collected three assists against Dauphin, added a goal and an assist against Winnipeg and closed out the weekend with a power play helper against Selkirk. Keck, sits second in team scoring with 59 points (28G, 31A).  

 1st Star 

Kobe Grant has been a wagon all season, and these past three games just prove what we have been talking about all season long. The 20-year-old Vernon, BC product put on an absolute clinic in his three starts. Grant picked up his 21st win of the season against the Dauphin Kings, stopping 39/42 shots he face. He followed that up with a great performance against the Freeze, stopping 32/33. He closed out the weekend with a dominating performance against the Selkirk Steelers, stopping all 28 shots he faced to pick up his third shutout of the season. Grant, who sits second in the league for wins and save percentage, earned a 1.33 GAA and a .961 SVS% last week.
