Stampeders Complete Weekend Sweep With A Win Over Selkirk Sunday

The Stampeders completed a weekend sweep at home, defeating the Selkirk Steelers 5-3 Sunday night at the Centennial Arena.

Nathan Carl lead the way with a goal and two assists, Trevor Schroder scored a goal and an assist, while Mikael Foucher stopped 39/42 shots he faced for his 21st win of the year.

Callum Fortin opened the scoring tonight, tipping home a Tanner Glasrud point shot  for his 11th of the year at 12:56 of the opening frame.

Josh Maucieri would completely undress Steelers goaltender Austin Deboer for his 13th of the year, 34 seconds into the middle frame. The Steelers power play would strike just over a minute later as Eric Krywy beat Mikael Foucher for his fourth of the year. Nathan Carl grabbed his 22nd of the year, ripping one over the glove of Deboer on the power play at 4:44. Austen McIvor would pick up a loose puck, wrap around the net, and find a wide open Trevor Schroder, who snapped home his 19th of the year at 8:42.

Selkirk made things interesting early in the third period, scoring back-to-back goals 56 seconds apart. Keenan Allen scores his 3rd of the year at 7:05, and Hudson Chamberlain would squeeze one through Foucher at 8:01. Daunte Fortner outmuscled his defender and scored into an empty net with 56 seconds left in the game, sealing the Stampeders 32nd win of the year.
