Stampeders Dropped Fourth In A Row, Lost 4-3 To OCN Friday Night

The Swan Valley Stampeders have now lost four straight games dropping a 4-3 decision to the OCN Blizzard Friday night at the Gordon Lathlin Memorial Centre.

Swan Valley’s offence was led by Cody Barnes (2G), Deepkaran Hans (3A) and Collin Jennings (1G). Kobe Grant stopped 58/62 shots he faced in the loss.

Swan Valley had a much better start to tonight’s contest, scoring two goals in the opening twenty minutes. Jennings collected his third of the year 4:55 into the game, now scoring in back-to-back games. Brock McDonald was gifted a tap in to pull the Blizzard even at 14:56 of the opening frame. Barnes scored on a cross ice pass from Hans to give his team a 2-1 lead on the power play at 16:45.

Swan Valley jumped out to a 3-1 lead as Barnes cleaned up the garbage in-front of the net 4:46 into the second period. The Blizzard took over from there scoring three straight goals en-route to a 4-3 win over the Stampeders on home ice Friday night.

It will be a quick turnaround for these two teams as they will finish of their regular season series at the Centennial Arena Saturday at 7:30p.m..

Saturday night’s contest will be the final home game of the regular season for the Swan Valley Stampeders and it will be a very busy evening according to Stampeder Director of Marketing Cody Manchester.

The evening will start off with presentations to our graduating players, a cheque presentation by Pizza Place, and Paull’s Funeral Home & Crematorium three stars of the week awards. That will all be followed by a tribute to Ukraine with the singing of the Ukrainian National Anthem by Valley Residents and the Canadian National Anthem by Katie Smith. The first intermission will see the Minitonas Figure Skating Club perform for all in attendance.Saturday’s game is FREE ADMISSION and Proof of vaccination is no longer required.
