The Story

The Stampeders had a tough time finding any offence through the first forty minutes of play Saturday night at the Centennial Arena. Tyson Smith collected his 10th of the season, scoring off the rush at 9:36 of the first period.

Joel Purdom added a power play marker in the second period, scoring his 10th of the year at 10:40.

The Stampeders found their scoring touch in the third period as Justin Keck collected a loose puck, beat the goalie back to the net and scored into an empty net 54 seconds into the period.  Ashton Fishley was able to kick in offensively tonight, scoring three minutes later to tie the game 2-2, and forcing overtime.

Prior to overtime, the Stampeders took a double minor, giving the Steelers a 4-on-3 power play to start the extra frame. It didn’t take the Steelers high flying offence long to find the back of the net. Lucas Brennan played hero, scoring his 33rd goal of the season, and stealing the extra point in overtime Saturday night.
