Stampeders Fall 5-2 in Pre-Season Action Friday Night

The Swan Valley Stampeders fell 5-2 to the Dauphin Kings in pre-season action Friday night at the Centennial Arena.

Callum Halls opened the scoring,  collecting his third of the pre-season 9:12 into the first period. Trey Sauder added to the Stampeders lead with two seconds left in the period, giving the home team a 2-0 lead heading to the locker room.

It was all Dauphin after a goalie change in the second period. Elias Giaccari-Dimitriou stopped all 29 shots he faced before being replaced by 6’7” Liam Vanderkooi. The Kings exploded after that, scoring three straight goals in the second period to take a 3-2 lead after 40 minutes of play.

Dauphin collected two more goals in the third period and skated to a 5-2 win.

Swan Valley’s pre-season record now sits at 2-2.

 Next action for the Stampeders will be Friday Sept. 14 in The Pas to face the Blizzard. Puck drop goes at 7:00PM.
