Stampeders lose on home ice

The Stampeders were back on home ice again tonight to face off against the Virden Oil Capitals.

The 1st period was back and forth as both teams traded  several quality scoring chances. Both Dalton Dosch and Brett Evans closed the door and the score remained 0-0 after 20 mins.

The teams continued to trade chances in the 2nd period but it was the Oil Capitals who struck first. Jeran Knorr scored at 10:07 on the power play and Kyle Salaway added another at 19:27 to take a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes of play.

The Stampeders bounced back in the 3rd period as Noah Basarab scored  1:18 in to pull the stamps within 1. With the goalie pulled and a extra attacker on, it was Kyle Salaway of the Virden Oil Capitals who scored to seal the deal as the Oil Capitals defeated the Stampeders 3-1.

Final shots were 40-27 for Virden. Next action for the Stampeders is this Saturday when they travel to Winkler to take on the Flyers, puck drop is at 7:30pm.
