Stampeders defeat Selkirk

The 5–7-3 Stampeders rolled into Selkirk this afternoon for a clash with the 10-5-1 Steelers.

The Stampeders were determined today as they pushed the pace for much of the 1st period. Jaden Townsend picked up his 5th of the season at 4:43 on the power play. Selkirk`s Connor Barley answered back at 7:29 to tie the game at 1. Persistence pays off as Noah Basarab (3) found the twine at 18:52. Brett Evans stopped 12/13 in the first and the period came to a end with the Stamps leading 2-1.

The 2nd period was all Stampeders as Jakob Bisnilian picked up his 2nd of the year. Sam Harris added a short handed goal at 9:40 and the Stamps lead 4-1 after 40 min.

The Stamps sat back in the 3rd period and Selkirk capitalized at 4:16 by Brady Castellano. Selkirk continued to press and added another by Nate Halvorson at 12:12 bringing the Steelers within 1.  Brett Evans closed the door backstopping the Stampeders to their 6th win of the season defeating Selkirk 4-3. Final shots were 42-26 for the Steelers.

Next action for the Swan Valley Stampeders will be at home this Wednesday when the Virden Oil Capitals are in town. Puck drop is at 7:30pm.
