Stampeders Lost 2-1 In A Shootout To Dauphin Saturday Night

The Swan Valley Stampeders drop to 7-9-0-2 on the season with a 2-1 shootout loss to the Dauphin Kings Saturday night at the Centennial Arena.

Stampeder offence was led by Justin Keck while Kobe Grant stopped 37/38 shots he faced in the shootout loss.

It was certainly a goalie show in front of the Swan River faithful as Grant and Carson Cherepak went head-to-head stopping everything they saw in the opening twenty minutes of play.

Keck finally solved Cherepak at the 9:37 mark of the second period, scoring his third of the year and snapping the Dauphin netminders nearly 90 minute shutout streak against the Stampeders in back-to-back games. Grant was calm, cool and collected in the Stampeder net stopping all 19 shots Dauphin had directed his way.

Parker Fofonof picked up his second of the year, tying the game 1-1 with 11:49 left in the third period. Both teams couldn’t find the go ahead goal before the buzzer rang, sending both teams to overtime.

The overtime period was back and forth, with Swan Valley out chancing the Kings but neither team could solve the goaltenders ultimately sending tonight’s contest into a shootout.
