Stampeders Sweep Road Trip With A 5-3 Win Sunday Night

The Stampeders pushed their win streak to four games, and their point streak to seven games Sunday night by defeating the Winnipeg Blues 5-3.

Another hot start for the Stampeders in Winnipeg Sunday evening. The team has been talking about better starts, and once again they proved they can. The team put up three goals over a span of eight minutes in opening frame.

Tommy Cardinal would get things going tonight, cashing in on a rebound for his 11th goal of the year at 9:05. Jackson Betcher would scoop up a loose but, beat a defender off the wall, and snapped home his fourth of the year six minutes later. Frazer Dodd would walk off the wall and beat Will Gurski over the blocker less than two minutes later, increasing the Stampeder lead to 3-0.  Jack Oleksiuk would break the shutout of Jaden Little, scoring his sixth of the year with 1:12 left in the opening frame.

Carson Tiede would pull the Blues within one, scoring his forth of the year on the power play at 13:15 of the second period. Luke Beerman responded for the Stampeders less than two minutes later, banging home a loose puck for his 11th of the year. Lane Kirk would throw the monkey off his back, collecting his first of the year four minutes later and the Stampeders lead 5-2 after 40 minutes of play.

Mikol Sartor would add a late period goal, but it wasn’t enough as the Stampeders skated to a 5-3 win over the Winnipeg Blues.
