The Swan Valley Stampeders are proud to partner with the Campbell family and Amara’s Amigos to increase awareness for childhood cancer and raise funds for cancer research and advancements with a special game night.
Amara Campbell’s story has already touched so many people in our community. Amara lost her fight with Osteosarcoma in September 2020 after an 18-month battle. But it was her strength, courage and light through an extremely difficult time that is remembered most.
Wearing purple Amara’s Amigos jerseys, we will honour the memories of both Amara Campbell and her brother Joel – who tragically lost his life in a snowmobile accident during her battle – through the sport they both loved. The design was inspired by Amara’s Amigos colours and the logo that has already inspired so many supporters to donate money to help find hope for other families battling cancer diagnosis. It features a blue heart on the right chest for Joel.
These jerseys are a symbol of hope to keep fighting, even during the most difficult times.
On Friday, Feb. 9, we invite everyone to come out in support of Amara’s Amigos and help us raise funds for the PROFYLE Program, through the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, so that other children living with cancer receive the treatments they so desperately need.
A ceremonial puck drop with the Campbell family and Amara’s Amigos will take place before the game. Students ages 17 and under will be free for the event and we encourage all friends and family to attend what is sure to be an amazing evening.
Game time is set for 7 p.m. but come early to take advantage of raffle and donation opportunities as well as the special opening ceremony.
