The Swan Valley Stampeders claimed their second straight victory, defeating the Blizzard 5-2 Tuesday night in The Pas.
A win streak is two, and the Stampeders have found a way to win back-to-back games for the first time this season. A team that is just starting to peak and at the right time.
Swan Valley’s offence was led by Jakob Jones (1G, 1A), Amar Powar (2A), Linden Perry, Trey Sauder and Darius Makse all collected a goal while Gage Stewart stood on his head stopping 29/31 shots he faced for his second straight win.
The Stampeders started tonight’s game a bit flat and we don’t blame them as they just came off a three game road trip in the south. Those tired legs caused some mental mistakes and it was Quincy Supprien who opened the scoring on a break away at 10:15 of the first period.
Swan Valley found their legs in the second and started to push back, tying the game on a great forecheck by Griffin Ayotte, swatting one home at 9:01.
The Blizzard regained their lead just 22 seconds into the third period as Miguel Bouvier deposited a rebound in tight for his third of the year. From there it was all Stampeders. Linden Perry let a shot go from the point that found its way off the cross-bar and in at 9:33 for his first MJHL goal. Darius Makse has been red hot as of late, drove the net and deflected home his seventh of the season, giving the Stampeders their first lead of the game six minutes later. Trey Sauder slipped through the Blizzard defenders and snapped home is fifth of the year just over two minutes later. Jakob Jones sealed the deal with an empty net goal at 19:52 and the Stampeders skated to a 5-2 win on the road.
