Stampeders Win Streak Extended To Three Games With Win Over Dauphin

The Swan Valley Stampeders hold on for a 3-2 win over Dauphin Monday night at the MJHL Old Dutch Player Showcase.

The Stampeders came out flying to kick off tonight’s contest, scoring two goals in 14 seconds. Luke Beerman (Carter Cockburn, Leyson Coleman) would beat Bryan Landsberger 2:33 into the opening frame. Callum Fortin (Parker Johnson, Tanner Glasrud) would score 14 seconds later and Swan Valley would lead 2-0 through twenty minutes of play.

Both teams would trade power play goals in the second period. Cole DeKoninck would score 2:12 into the middle frame, beating a sprawled out Michael Davis and cutting the lead to just one. Trevor Schroder (Tommy Cardinal, Frazer Dodd) would regain the Stamps’ two goal lead on the power play, beating Landsberger upstairs at 9:59 of the second.

Parker Fofonoff would score his first of the year for the Dauphin Kings at 4:43 of the third. Despite constant pressure by the Kings through out the period, they couldn’t find an equalizer and the Stamps’ skated to a gutsy 3-2 win in Winnipeg.

The win improves the teams record to 4-1-0 and will be right back at it tomorrow evening against the Winnipeg Blues at 5pm.
