Paull Funeral Home 3 Stars of the Week

The Swan Valley Stampeders are coming off back-to-back wins this week, defeating the Virden Oil Capitals 5-4 in overtime Tuesday September 24. They then snapped the Waywayseecappo Wolverines four game win streak with a 4-1 win on home ice Friday September 27, and now hold a record of 3-1 heading into the MJHL Old Dutch Showcase next week.

The Stamps’ twenty-year-olds have been finding their scoring touch early on this year. Frazer Dodd, Nathan Carl,  & Josh Maucieri all sit in the top 10 for points.

The “Three Stars of the Week” returns this year thanks to Paull Funeral Home & Crematorium. The Three Stars of the Week will be awarded week-to-week with points being collected throughout the season.The top three players will be presenter an awarded before our final home game of the regular season.

Three stars point system is as follows:

1st Star = 5 points

2nd Star = 3 points

3rd Star = 1 point

THREE STARS (Sept 23 – Sept 29)

3rd Star

20-year-old returning defenceman John Jebamani found a way to chip in offensively last week, collecting three assists over the course of two games. The Winnipeg, MB native would collect two power play assists against Virden Tuesday night and would pick up another power play assist against the Waywayseecappo Wolverines Friday night in front of the Swan River faithful.

2nd Star

Nathan Carl would once again find his scoring touch. The highly skilled 20-year-old forward from Sherwood Park, AB would pick up a power play goal against the Oil Capitals Tuesday September 24, and snapped home his league leading fifth of the year on home ice Friday against the Wolverines.

1st Star

Frazer Dodd is this weeks 1st Star. The gritty 20-year-old forward from Hazelton, BC, would pick up four points in two games last week. Dodd scored twice, which included the overtime winner against Virden, and added two assists against Virden and Wayway.  The youngster has fit in since being acquired earlier this summer from Merritt of the BCHL.

The Stampeders won both games last week, improving their record to 3-1-0 with the MJHL Old Dutch Showcase coming up Monday September 30 and Tuesday October 1st. Swan Valley will face Dauphin Monday at 6pm and Winnipeg Tuesday at 5pm. The next home action for the club will be Friday October 4th, a presentation of Chicken Chef.
