Stampeders Win Streak Snapped at Two, Lost 4-1 to Portage Friday Night

The Swan Valley Stampeders two game win streak was snapped Friday night, losing 3-1 to the Portage Terriers at Stride Place.

Swan Valley’s offence was led by Griffin Ayotte (1G), while Kobe Grant stopped 46/50 shots he faced in the loss.

Ayotte got things going Friday night, deflecting home his first ever MJHL goal at 16:24 of the first period on a delayed penalty to the Portage Terriers. Despite being down in the shot department, Swan Valley found themselves leading 1-0 after twenty minutes of play.

Portage answered back on a power play of their own, as Bryden Kiesman scored his fourth goal of the season at 8:52 of the middle frame.

Austin Peters gave the Terrier’s their first lead of the game, scoring 1:46 into the third period. Kaden Kohle added their second power play marker of the game, scoring six minutes later. Bryden Kiesman collected his fifth of the year, on the power play, at 17:12 of the third period, (all five of his goals have been power play markers against the Stampeders), and the Terriers skated to a 4-1 win on home ice Friday night.
