The IG Wealth Management Game Day Report vs Portage

IG Wealth Management Game Day Report

Swan Valley Stampeders Regular Season Record: 6-5-1-1. PP: 19% (8th) PK: 74.0% (12th) Rank: 4th in West Division, 8th in MJHL

Head Coach: Barry Wolff

Assistant Coach: Dakota Mason

Assistant Coach: Darren Webster

Tonight’s Matchup: vs Portage: The Stampeders will need to stay out of the penalty box tonight against a team that can bury you on the man advantage. We witnessed that in Swan River last weekend as the Terriers scored three first-period power play goals. Swan Valley will need to use the big ice surface, and their speed, if they have a chance at winning on the road tonight. If Swan can stay out of the penalty box, they have a chance to push their win streak to three games.

Tonight’s game will be another huge test for the Stampeder squad.

Last Game: 4-1 win over the Neepawa Titans: Jakob Jones and Justin Keck put the team on their backs last Saturday, collecting a pair of goals each in a 4-1 win over the Titans. Jones scored his seventh and eighth goals of the year in the first period while Keck added one in the second and the third period. Both players sit one-two in team scoring and it doesn’t look like they are stopping anytime soon, a good thing as the team needs to find offence, quickly. Kobe Grant stopped 33/34 shots he faced in the win.

Tonight’s Matchup: vs Swan: The Terriers will look to end the Stampeders’ two-game win streak and get themselves back into the win column after dropping their last game to the Niverville Nighthawks. That was the first loss on home ice the Terriers have suffered.

Last Game: 6-2 loss to Niverville: Bailey Monteith had a rough night in goal, stopping 19/24 shots in the loss. Niverville scored early, and often against the powerhouse Terriers, scoring two in the first, three in the second and adding one late in the third to take down Portage 6-2.
