Stampeders Win Streak Snapped, Lost 6-4 to Waywayseecappo Tuesday Night

The Swan Valley Stampeders win streak was snapped Tuesday night in Waywayseecappo, losing 6-4  to the Wolverines.

Swan Valleys offence was led by Jakob Jones (1G, 1A), Noah Wilson (1G, 1A), Adam Rajsigl (1G), Griffin Ayotte (1G), while Kobe Grant suffered his eighth loss of the season in net.

The Wolverines took advantage of another lack-luster first period by the Stampeders, scoring three times within 14:55 of the opening frame.  Boone Mathison scored back-to-back goals just over three minutes apart and Nolan Grier beat Grant just over six minutes later giving the home team a 3-0 lead. Wilson was able to get the Stampeders on the board before the period was out, giving the Stampeders a bit of life with 40 minutes left to play.

Grier added his second of the game 4:16, scoring on a breakaway  just after the Wolverines killed off a penalty. Ayotte finished off an unreal pass by Collin Jennings at 15:25, scoring his third of the year. Mathison completed his hat-trick scoring less than 45 seconds after Ayotte, giving his team a 5-2 lead. Jones added his 10th of the season less than two minutes later, scoring a short-handed breakaway goal and pulling the Stampeders back to within two after 40 minutes of play.

Rajsigl pulled the Stampeders to within one, scoring on the power play 8:10 into the third period beating Tresor Wotton for his fourth of the year. Aiden Ziprick all but sealed the  game with a seeing eye shot that squeaked between the legs of Grant with just over four minutes to play, and the Wolverines snapped the Stampeders win streak with a 6-4 win Tuesday night.
