The Swan Valley Stampeders (1-4) were at home Friday night against the OCN Blizzard (1-2) in pre-season action.
The Stampeders jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 13:32 as Tanner McKechnie tapped home a nifty pass from Carson Pawlenchuk. Jake Thomson added to the Stampeders lead at 19:42 as he beat Logan Thiessen low glove side off the rush. After 20 minutes of play the Stampeders held a 2-0 lead. Shots on goal were 15-11 in favour of the Stampeders.
Both clubs traded goals in the middle frame as the back and forth action continued. Swan River product Carter Cockburn roofed it over Wesley Ellingson at 8:17. The Blizzard added a late power play goal as Kevin Crawley beat Michael Davis at 19:53. Shots after the second period were 24-17 for the Stampeders.
Kasyn Kruse added a power play goal at 7:43. Jakob Besnillian scored at 10:04 of the third period and the Stampeders skated to a 5-1 victory. Final shots on goal were 36-22 for the Stamps.
The Next pre-season action for the Stampeders will be Saturday September 15th against the Virden Oil Capitals. Puck drop is set for 7:30pm at Tundra Oil & Gas Place.
