Stamps Defeat Virden 3-2

The Stampeders take down the 3rd place Oil Capitals on home ice.

The Stampeders were back on home ice tonight after a 4 day break. The visiting Oil Capitals opened the scoring just 1:02 into the opening frame as Tyler Kirkup buried his 26th of the season. The 1st period ended with the Oil Capitals leading 1-0 and up 13-10 in the shot department.

The middle frame was all Stampeders as Noah Basarab tied the game at 5:29 picking up his 14th of the year. Daniel Chartrand scored his 1st as a Stampeder as he ripped one past Dalton Dosch, moving Swan ahead 2-1 at 12:06. Daylin Smallchild picked up his 3rd of the season as he let a shot go from the point at 18:58. The middle frame came to a close with the Stampeders leading 3-1 and the shots 28-27 for Virden.

Kolten Kanaski pulled the Oil Capitals within 1 at 5:40 of the 3rd. Ethan Peterson was lights out in net tonight as he held the Oil Capitals to just 2. The Stampeders went on to defeat Virden 3-2. Final shots on net were 41-35 Virden.

Josh Tripp’s 1 assist was named 2nd star while Ethan Peterson’s 39 save performance was named tonights 1st star.
