The Swan Valley Stampeders season has come to an end after a heartbreaking 3-2, double-overtime loss to the Dauphin Kings Sunday night at the Centennial Arena.
Kaden Bryant was the overtime hero 13:15 into the second overtime period to send the Kings to the second round of the MJHL Playoffs.
Swan Valley’s offence was led by Justin Keck and Trey Sauder who each collected a goal, while Kobe Grant stopped 47 of the 50 shots he faced in the loss.
Keck opened the scoring and sent the entire Swan Valley crowd onto their feet 17:51 into the first period. Dauphin responded less than a minute later as Bryant collected his first of the night, sending both teams to the dressing room tied 1-1.
Nakodan Greyeyes collected his third of the post-season, beating Grant 11:51 into the second period, giving the Kings their first lead of the game. Swan responded less than four minutes later as Trey Sauder drove the net and put home his fourth of the playoffs, sending both teams into the locker room tied 2-2.
For the second straight game these two teams needed extra time to sort it all out.
There was no scoring until the 13:15 mark of double-overtime. Kaden Bryant sprung himself down the right side of the ice and sent a shot of goal that barely crossed the line to win it for the Kings.

The Stamps’ season has officially come to an end and we would like to take this opportunity to thank many people.
We would like to start by thanking you, our amazing fans who show up night after night and continue to cheer on the guys. Our Billets and Volunteers, without you and your continued support to the Stampeder organization we simply would not be able to operate. To our Corporate Partners who continue to have our backs, so to speak, year after year, thank you. Our Staff, Head Coach and General Manager Barry Wolff, Associate Coach Darren Webster, Athletic Therapist Kate Wiens and our Director of Marketing Cody Manchester, we simply cannot thank you all enough for the countless hours you put forth to make Stampeder Hockey an attractive team every year.
And finally, the players. What can we say other than you put forth an amazing effort all season and never once backed down from a challenge. Through a pandemic, you rose and gave it everything right until the final buzzer. What a year gentleman, hold your heads high. To our graduating players, Carter Cockburn, Cody Barnes, Nicolas Roussel, Jacob Paler-Chow, Brad Fortin, Quinn Mulder and Callum Fortin, thank you for everything you have done while wearing the Stampeder colours, both on and off the ice. We wish you all the best in your bright futures.
