Turnbull Cup Final Preview

The Stamps’ did something no other team from the Valley has done in the past 20 years, made it to the MJHL Finals.

After sweeping the Dauphin Kings in the first round, the Stamps’ ran into a hot goaltender in Matt Radomsky and a determined Steinbach team in the second round. The Stamps knocked out the defending 2017/2018 MJHL Turnbull Cup champions in six games.

The Stamps’ will open up the MJHL Turnbull Cup Championship Series in Portage Friday April 5th. A team that has won 10 league championships since 1972.

The Opponent

Portage swept both of their first two series making quick work of the Waywayseecappo Wolverines and the Virden Oil Capitals.

The Turnbull Cup is being touted as “the mother of all series” to watch as the MJHL final will pit the league’s top two regular season teams against one another.

Throughout the regular season Portage held down first place while Swan finished the league just six points behind. Points don’t mean anything to the Stamps’ as they went 4-2 against the Terriers over the course of their six game, regular season series.
