Kobe Grant Commits to the University of Wisconsin-Superior

The Swan Valley Stampeders are pleased to announce that 20-year-old goaltender Kobe Grant has committed to play Division III hockey for the Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets in Superior, WI, USA for the upcoming season.

Grant, posted a 2.69 GAA and a .933 SV% during 45 regular season games and followed that up with a 2.97 GAA and a .917 SV% in 12 playoff games last season. His hard work and commitment to the game of hockey didn’t go unnoticed. He was awarded the Ed Belfour trophy, the MJHL top goaltender award.

“I am really excited to attend Wisconsin-Superior, said Grant. “Playing college hockey has always been a dream of mine, and for it to come true is something I am very thankful for. Thank you to the Swan Valley Stampeders and the town of Swan River for giving me the opportunity and support to grow into the person and goalie I am today. Wisconsin-Superior has everything I am looking for and more when it comes to education and hockey. I am looking forward to growing as an athlete, and as a student while in Wisconsin and I look forward to seeing what the future holds. Thank you again to everyone who made this possible.”

“We are very excited to get Kobe Grant and welcome him and his family to the Jacket Hockey family,” said Wisconsin-Superior Head Coach Rich Mckenna. “We had a major need in net during this recruiting cycle and we feel we got the best one in Kobe. UWS has had a lot of great players come out of the MJHL and Kobe will add to that great pipeline. We identified Kobe early in the season, had some great conversations and ultimately made an offer, which he accepted. He is a great player but an even better person and we are fortunate to have him.”

“We are very happy for Kobe and so proud of him,” said Stampeder Head Coach/General Manager Barry Wolff. “Kobe was one of our most popular players in the Swan Valley Community and in our locker room. Wisconsin-Superior is a great school and this is a great opportunity for Kobe to further his education and hockey career. The Yellow Jacket’s Hockey Team and Wisconsin-Superior School just got a whole lot better.”

Grant will join former Stampeder defenceman Troy Quinn who is entering his fourth year at Wisconsin-Superior. The Yellowjackets play in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, NCAA Division III.

The Stampeders congratulate Kobe on his recent commitment to Wisconsin Superior.
